Cypher’s Rooms we Love – LA Dragon Studios: Knights of the Round Table

The Cypher Crew hit up another local SFV escape room this week.  We would like to report that we loved it!  LA Dragon Studios is owned by Adam Rubanenko and his brother Roy.  They have an escape room, arcade and VR Experience and are looking to add more gaming options in the near future.

Knights of the Round Table is their escape room and is a classic King Arthur tale with Merlin being the main character of focus throughout the room.  Merlin sends us on the quest and guides us through the game, offering hints and clues.  Right off the bat, while watching the intro video, there is a clever use of story to explain away the rules and what can and cannot be done as well as a clear objective while also being humorous.  At this point, we are invested in it and fell immersed.  As your move through the game, you are moving through the Castle and get to see all of the elements you would expect in King Arthurs Castle (Throne, Round Table, Merlins Workshop and so on).

I should mention, this room is not only appropriate for families with young children, it is designed to facilitate this particular crowd.  While it has good puzzles, set design and immersion that will bring a smile to any escape room junkie, it is also super fun and has search elements and puzzle elements that children can solve (I had mine, 6 and 10 with me).  A tale of magic, castles, dragons…and of course, prop swords and axes is fun for all ages.

The puzzles were fun and there is an “extra objective” puzzle which leaves you with a little takeaway gift which was fun.  There are logic puzzles, search and find clues, tile puzzles, association puzzles as will as a puzzle which requires 5 clues but each clue is attained in a different way (this I appreciated).  There is also what I call a room manipulation puzzle which is a personal favorite of mine.  You’ll see when you visit. I won’t spoil anything but the very last action taken in the game was a huge payoff for my 6yr old, I’d highly recommend that if you bring children that when you get to this point that you let them complete it for a wow moment.

Awesome job LA Dragon Studio’s!!
